Polio-like illness seen in up to 25 California children

This little girl in the US is suffering from a mystery illness.
It may have afflicted as many as 25 children in California, with several experiencing limb paralysis.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) DR. KEITH VAN HAREN, PEDIATRIC NEUROLOGIST, STANFORD UNIVERSITY SAYING:
"Our suspicion is that it's a virus, but that's unproven. There are other viruses that can do this. We know it's not polio virus. And the California Department of Public Health as well as other investigators are really hard at work trying to figure out what might be causing this."
Jessica Jarvis says her daughter used to be a healthy child.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) JESSICA JARVIS, MOTHER OF AFFLICTED GIRL SAYING:
"And as we were leaving that appointment, Sophia went to the treasure box to grab her toy after seeing the doctor. And I saw her left hand, mid grasp, stop working."
Nerologists say the ailment could indicate the possibility of an emerging infectious polio-like syndrome in California
