A mom and dad in Ohio are left shaken up after they recently woke to find their baby camera had been hacked. Heather and Adam Shreck had been sleeping at about midnight when they heard a man’s voice coming from their baby’s room.
Because they were in a deep sleep only moments before, they weren’t quite sure if they imagined it, so Heather picked up her phone to check the camera in her 10-month-old daughter’s room. She saw the device move and got suspicious as she wasn’t the one moving the camera.
Right around that time, she heard the same male voice yelling at her small child named Emma. The man screamed ‘Wake up baby. Wake up baby.’ At that point, Adam bolted into Emma’s room.
The concerned father watched as the camera moved away from the baby to point at him. The man’s voice then started yelling obscenities at Adam. The couple immediately unplugged their camera.
The terrifying realization set in that someone had hacked into their baby camera. Since the story has made news reports, experts are urging Foscam IP Camera owners to avoid using default passwords and to make sure their password is unique to prevent something like this from happening.
