Ukraine's unilateral ceasefire's only been in force since Friday and it's already under pressure.

People are fleeing towns and villages in eastern Ukraine as fighting continues between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian separatists.

Many are heading across the border into Russia.

"As we approached the Russian border we heard gunfire so customs let us through very quickly. Now we're here we're waiting to be registered."

(SOUNDBITE)(Russian) VIKTORIA, REFUGEE FROM HORLIVKA, SAYING:

"The jets were flying just over my house. We were running away in whatever clothes we had on. There were probably looking where to fire. They flew over my house, they flew over Horlivka, and we were all running away where we could."

These were the scenes in parts of Donetsk region on Sunday.

Ukraine's government is accusing the separatists of attacking its military bases and posts on the Russian bord
