Ernestine Northover - So Fine-spun

I watched a bubble float into the air,
Shining its translucent colours so fine-spun.
Then others followed along its thoroughfare,
Rising up into the heavens, one by one.

So dainty in their form, the winds dictate
Their every move, as climbing high they swirl.
Where are they to go, when will they disintegrate?
These globes of rainbow hues, all lined with pearl.

Wonderful creations each one like a silken sphere,
Formed by an Angel’s sweet and tender dreams,
Their delicate forms are glimpsed as organza sheer,
These orbs of gossamer, gliding on bright sunbeams.
