Engineers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California are looking into creating a new type of exploratory wind-powered robot.

Exploratory spacecraft have proven to be incredibly valuable in the quest for information about the celestial bodies in our solar system.

As such, ideas for new probes are constantly being discussed, including a type of self-powered bot that is currently being investigated by NASA engineers with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Unlike those that have come before it, the one being developed by the group wouldn’t require the assistance of either wings or a buoyant balloon, but, rather, would gather energy from the atmosphere on its own.

Among the benefits of creating such a craft is that it would potentially open up opportunities for the exploration of gaseous entities like Jupiter and S
