Janet Jackson has paused her Unbreakable World Tour because of an unspecified, upcoming surgery.
The 49-year-old singer-songwriter issued the update on her social media and website, noting that any affected concert dates would be pushed back to and rescheduled in the spring.
"Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time," she wrote. "
The tour, to promote Jackson's new album of the same name, began at the end of summer in Canada.
The next Unbreakable destination was supposed to be Denver, on January 9, followed by several more Stateside stops until a switch to the U.K. at the end of March.
