A recently published image from a high-resolution camera onboard NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shows multiple troughs in a strange starburst pattern—the result of carbon dioxide ice sublimation. 
The troughs in the image, spanning a little over half a mile across, are radial and have been compared to spiders in some places, but here, appear to form a tree-like apparition sketched into the Martian soil.
