Prince William and Kate vowed to help cut
suicide rates‎ across Britain after meeting a man
who tried to kill himself and the passer-by who saved him.

The royal couple spoke to Jonny Benjamin about his
suicidal feelings‎ and praised Neil Laybourn,
who talked Jonny out of throwing himself
off London's Waterloo Bridge in 2008.

After receiving help, Johnny tracked down
Neil and the pair have become mental health
campaigners raising awareness of suicide .

It is the biggest killer of men aged 20-45
and William and Kate want to shine a spotlight
on the sometimes taboo issue and get better help
for people struggling with suicidal thoughts.

At the end of a half-hour meeting at St Thomas'
Hospital, where Jonny was sectioned after being
rescued on the bridge, William said: "Someone told me
five people a day try to kill themselves.
