The NBA Players Association elected Michele Roberts as executive director, making her the first woman to lead a male sports union in North America. Roberts picked up 32 of 36 votes in a vote Tuesday morning. The Washington trial lawyer defeated tech CEO Dean Garfield. Players elected Roberts at an uncertain time for the NBA labor agreement which possibly faces another round of collective bargaining in 2017 if the NBA or the players union opts out of the current deal.
