SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — A San Antonio police officer has been fired for allegedly giving a fecal sandwich to a homeless man.
The incident allegedly took place in May when San Antonio police officer Matthew Luckhurst, a five-year veteran of the department, was assigned to bike patrol.
According to San Antonio local news outlets, Luckhurst claimed he picked up some dog feces and made a sandwich out of it. Then, he reportedly boasted to colleagues about putting the excrement-filled sandwich inside a styrofoam container before placing it next to a homeless man.
Other officers were rightly disgusted and reported Luckhurst to the SAPD Internal Affairs division. The report was made in July, according to San Antonio Express-News, and Luckhurst was later fired.
However, Luckhurst is appealing his termination, with his lawyer, Ben Sifuentes, claiming his client was only joking in his retelling of the incident, but never actually carried out the act.
The SAPD has so far been unable to locate the homeless man who was the alleged victim of the prank.
