Tear gas clouded the streets of Campo Alegre outside the Hilton Embassy Suites in Caracas, Venezuela, on June 7 as anti-government protesters ran down the sidewalks.
News reports place the death toll at 66 or more since the protests gained traction in late March, the latest being 17-year-old Neomar Lander.
Venezuela’s opposition party Voluntad Popular (People’s Will), countering President Nicolas Maduro, claim Maduro is engaging in a coup and denounced his direction of the Venezuelan National Guard and police against protesters as “repressive” and “unconstitutional.”
