Ayyavazhi is a Hindu sect which is actually a Dharmic belief-system originated in the mid-19th century in Southern India
It is a monotheistic or henotheistic religion that is centered on the life and preaching of Ayya Vaikundar.
It believes in just one particular god out of several and follows this philosophy through instructions and slogans found in the religious books Akilattirattu Ammanai and Arul Nool.
Although Ayyavazhi shares many ideas in its mythology with the popular Hinduism, still both the beliefs are different in many ways.
Pathi is the worship place for Ayyavazhi followers, having a relatively large structure like that of a temple
The Ayyavazhi people use a unique religious mark of Tilak, where they apply vertical flame-shaped white mark on the forehead that represents Aanma Jyothi or Atman.
The exact number of Ayyavazhi practitioners is unknown since they are reported as Hindus during Indian censuses.
