NewsX: In its judgement on acid attack cases today, the Supreme Court has directed state governments to pay Rs 3 lakh compensation to all acid attack victims.

The apex court has asked governments to pay 1 lakh, out of the 3 lakh rupees compensation, within a period of 15 days of the incident being reported to the police followed by the rest of the money which needs to be paid in 2 months time.

The court also ruled that medical treatment and rehabilitation costs of acid attack victims will be borne by the state governments. Further it has framed interim guidelines to regulate the sale of acid, saying there will be no sale of acid without a proper photo identity card.
