In season 2, the Kayı tribe faces Aya Nikola, sent by the Emperor who was concerned over the Turk threat on his empire. This is followed by Ertuğrul Gazi's return to the tribe after one year in Konya.

Yavlak Arslan, also begins to put his plans into action, starting with an ambush on Osman while Gaykhatu plans to kill his brother. Aya Nikola causes more problems after he recaptures Kulucahisar castle after breaking a false peace deal with Ertuğrul.
