“If people here get affected by the virus, it will be #Modi’s fault. It will be Amit Shah’s fault. We are not an elected political party. We are farmers asking for our rights” said Balbir Singh Rajewal, the president of the BKU (Rajewal).

It’s been more than 173 days since thousands of #farmers arrived and settled along the borders of New Delhi. For more than five months, the farmers, largely from Punjab and Haryana, have been protesting against the three #farmbills passed by the central government in September.

As the second wave of Covid sweeps the country, despite the increase in cases and deaths in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana, the farmers, not just arrived in large numbers at the protest sites along the borders of Delhi but continue to travel to and fro their home states.

In this video the farmer leader, Rajewal explains to Newslaundry why, despite the pandemic, the farmers continue to protest, what covid precautions are being taken at the protest sites and their continuous disappointment with the Central government.
