Speaking at a press conference , Punjab CM Channi said, "Whenever there are elections around the corner, the Union government misuses the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department against the Opposition... Had I used force against the farmers, this would not have happened. But they [Centre] are unnecessarily defaming farmers and Punjab."

This comes a day after the ED conducted raids at multiple locations in Punjab, including those linked to a relative of CM Channi.
