The shrine has long been worshipped as the shrine of Byodo-in Temple. It is registered as a World Heritage site.

Byodoin Phoenix Hall
This temple was founded in 1052 by Fujiwara no Yorimichi. It is said to have been built to recreate the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss in this world, and its beauty remains unchanged to this day.
