Johor still needs treated water from S'pore, Dewan Rakyat hears

 Johor still relies on treated water from Singapore due to the rapid expansion of its industrial sector, says the Deputy Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister.

During the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Dec 2), Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir explained that while Johor is working towards water self-sufficiency, this goal is expected to be achieved only after 2030.

He added that Johor continues to benefit from the existing agreement, as purchasing treated water from Singapore remains more cost-effective than processing it domestically.
