A South Korean passenger plane with 176 people on board caught fire before takeoff at Gimhae International Airport in Busan on January 28, 2025. The Air Busan flight, bound for Hong Kong, experienced a fire in the tail section, prompting an emergency evacuation of all passengers and crew members. The 169 passengers and 7 crew were safely evacuated using an inflatable slide. While three individuals sustained minor injuries, their conditions were not serious. The incident comes just a month after a deadly Jeju Air crash at Muan International Airport, where a Boeing 737-800 skidded off the runway, resulting in multiple fatalities. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
