ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Layers, shimmer and texture took center stage as Marc Jacobs presented his Fall 2012 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York on Monday (February 13).
Maintaining his tradition of theatrical runway shows, Jacobs sent his models out of a cutout set reminiscent of Alice's Wonderland and down a catwalk full of curves. Somber and slow music played as each model, wearing an oversized hat borrowed from the Mad Hatter, navigated the runway.
Strutting in pilgrim-like loafer pumps, some of the models wore capri tights, while others rocked a pair of schoolgirl socks.
Shimmering fabric and trim on dresses, skirts and scarves caught the spotlight in looks often accented by what some would call granny-style knits draped around the shoulders -- adding fun accessories for Fall. Dark dresses and skirts gave the demure woman a chance to wear something from the otherwise bright and whimsical collection.
Dresses were full - a departure from the form-fitting style that Jacobs showcased prominently in the Spring.
Fashion Week in New York will end on Thursday (February 16).
