We had a stop over in the Catlins at Curio Bay which was recommended by friends for spotting dolphins and penguins. Off we went on the fossilised remains of an ancient forest at Curio Bay during low tide to see about 10 yellow-eyed penguins making their way to their coastal nests during dusk.
