The U.S. Airways plane finally lands in Charlotte, North Carolina, after a security threat forced its diversion to Maine.

The diversion was caused by a female passenger, who claimed she had a surgically implanted device.

Passengers onboard the flight from Paris said no one knew what happened at first.

"We were told it was a fuel shortage and before we knew it we were pulled off the runway and all the police cars and field transportation started coming and we knew there was something else."

"First officers came by, escorted her to the rear of the place and then there was a lot hullabaloo but getting her trying to determine which bags were hers, and first they pulled and opened one and then the other, and then pretty soon it was, that commotion was over and then we were told we were landing, and after that there was a lot of officers around and ultimately they escorted us outside of the airplane into busses, they researched the airplane and boarded us. The whole thing took about three hours."

Officials described the woman passenger as a French citizen born in Cameroon.

They said she was removed from the aircraft and taken into custody by the FBI.

Flight 787 landed safely with 188 people onboard.

Authorities said there were no indications that the incident was connected to terrorism.
