Forest fires swept Girona, Spain's northern Catalonia region leaving three people dead and 19 injured.
The wildfires raged out of control, burning over 19,000 acres (8,000 hectares), according to local media.
320 fire-fighters and 100 security forces battled the fire, but strong winds hindered their efforts.
Residents had to be evacuated.
A man and his 15-year-old daughter died after jumping off a cliff to escape the flames, while a third person died of a heart attack.
About 80 km (50 miles) of roads have been cut off in the area, which is a tourist spot bordering France, and the Costa Brava.
Authorities advised against cross-border travel to France.
