Mary Margaret Montigrew
Was looking rather fat
But over-indulgence in chocolate cake
Was not the reason for that
She was walking out with bold young Jack
Who was a farmer’s son
But he disappeared to Timbuctoo
When the trouble first began
Mary blamed the tiny fairy folk
Who lived in Pixley Dell
She said they wove a magic spell
That made her feel unwell
She was sick nearly every morning
And she got fatter still
Her mother sighed and Mary cried
But her Dad had had his fill
He went to look for farmer Jack
Carrying his biggest gun
When much to Mary’s astonishment
She produced a baby son
But everyone smiled a few days later
When the baby turned bright green
And his pointed ears and tiny wings
Could now be plainly seen.
