Chingari, a made in India alternative to the hugely popular short form video app tik tok, has seen a massive increase in downloads and active users over the last 24 hours after the Indian Government banned tik tok and several other Chinese apps over security concerns.
Social media watchers said that Chingari was experiencing 50,000 downloads per hour and suddenly after the news of tik tok ban broke, the number jumped to 1,00,000 downloads per hour.
The app recorded one million downloads in two days. The co-founder of Chingari Sumit Ghosh said that they have surpassed 3.5 million mark and are hopeful that they will cross 5 million mark in another 48-72 hours easily.
